Stationhead¶
Music you listen to through Stationhead often never shows up in your Musicat history. This page explains why, and how to check it for yourself.
Musicat does not filter Stationhead¶
Musicat saves every play Spotify reports for your account. It does not matter which app or device started the music: nothing is filtered out or dropped because you listened through Stationhead.
Why the plays are missing¶
A play reaches Musicat only once Spotify reports it. Many Stationhead listeners find that Spotify does not report those plays as part of their listening history at all, so there is nothing for Musicat to save.
We cannot record a play Spotify never reported, and we cannot add it to your history later. Reconnecting Spotify does not change this either. Only Stationhead and Spotify can change how these plays are reported, so that is where to raise it.
Now playing is not your history¶
While Stationhead is playing, Musicat may show the track in now playing. That only means Spotify is playing it right now, not that Spotify will report it as a play afterwards. On Spotify's side these are two separate things — see Now playing works, but history stays empty.
Checking it yourself¶
- Listen to a few tracks on Stationhead.
- Without playing anything else, open Settings → Spotify → Connection diagnostics and tap Run diagnostics.
- Look at the result:
- No recent plays, or Last play on Spotify from before you started listening on Stationhead: Spotify did not report those plays, and they will not reach Musicat.
- Catching up: Spotify did report them, and they are on their way to your history.
Other plays missing too?¶
If tracks you play in the Spotify app itself are missing as well, the problem is not Stationhead. Run Connection diagnostics and follow what it says, or get in touch.
