Commands¶
Type / in Discord and the bot's commands show up in the list. /help prints a short version of this page in the chat.
Almost everything below needs your Musicat account connected to Discord first — see Connecting your account.
Time periods¶
Commands that accept a range offer the same presets:
| Range | What it covers |
|---|---|
| All time | Everything, and the default |
| Today | Since midnight |
| Last 7 days | A window ending today |
| Last 30 days | A window ending today |
| Last 6 months | A window ending today |
| Last year | A window ending today |
| Last week (Mon–Sun) | The full week before this one |
| Last calendar month | The full month before this one |
Custom start and end dates are a paid feature in the app and are not offered in Discord.
Listening¶
/np [user]¶
What that person is playing right now. Without the user option it answers about you.
It reads live playback from Spotify, so the account being asked about needs Spotify connected and has to be sharing live playback. If they are not, or Spotify is temporarily unreachable, the reply says which of those it was.
/queue <track>¶
Searches Musicat for the track and adds the best match to your own Spotify queue — you cannot queue into somebody else's player.
You need Spotify connected, something already playing on an active device, and Spotify Premium; queueing is a Premium feature on Spotify's side. The reply is private.
Stats¶
/top [what] [range] [user]¶
The top 10 artists, albums, tracks or genres. Artists and all time by default.
/profile [range] [user]¶
The summary card: streams, hours, artists, albums, tracks, the top three artists, the average age of the music and the day the history starts.
On a paid plan the numbers also carry the change against the previous period. All time has no previous period, so it never shows one.
/memories [user]¶
What that person was listening to on this day in earlier years. A free account looks three years back, a paid one fifteen.
Together¶
/server [what] [range]¶
What this server plays most — artists, albums or tracks. Only connected accounts count. Servers only.
/whoknows <what> <query>¶
Who on this server plays an artist, album or track the most, top 10. Both options are required, and the search runs across the whole Musicat catalogue, so you can ask about something you have never played yourself. Servers only.
/compat <user>¶
How much your taste overlaps with theirs, as a percentage, plus the artists you have in common.
/duel <user>¶
Picks one artist you both listen to and compares play counts. Highest wins.
/follow <user> · /unfollow <user>¶
Follow or unfollow somebody's Musicat profile without leaving Discord. Both answer privately. Blocks apply the same way they do in the app.
Games¶
Rounds are built from your own most played music, and four buttons are posted with them. The first correct answer wins and reveals the card; wrong guesses are private, so the round is not spoiled.
/pixel— name the album behind a pixelated cover/jumble— name the artist behind scrambled letters/guessyear— name the year one of your albums came out
/pixel and /guessyear draw on Apple Music artwork and release dates, so a library with few Apple Music albums may not have enough material for a round.
Account¶
/link— connect your Musicat account, or show which one is already connected/unlink— disconnect this Discord account/invite— your referral code, to pass on. Whoever you send it to enters it in the app during their first three days. See Referrals & rewards
Feedback¶
/suggest <text>¶
Tells the team what you would change, up to 2,000 characters. It works whether or not you have connected an account — bouncing off the bot is worth hearing about too. The reply is private.
