Spotify

Connecting Spotify is what lets Musicat build your listening history: the tracks you play show up on your profile, feed your stats and keep your automated playlists fresh.

Connecting Spotify

  1. Open Settings → Spotify.
  2. Tap Connect Spotify.
  3. Sign in to Spotify and allow access.

Track your listening history and unlock many cool features.

From then on your plays are picked up automatically — there is nothing else to switch on.

Reconnect every 6 months

Spotify makes you reconnect musicat every 6 months.

The diagnostics card shows your exact deadline and how many days are left. Once it passes, your plays stop being tracked until you connect again.

Importing your past history

Connecting Spotify only tracks what you play from now on. To bring in what you listened to before, use Import history. It opens musicat.fm in a browser window, where you upload the Extended Streaming History file you request from Spotify. Importing is part of a paid plan — on a free account the button shows the plan options instead.

Disconnecting

Open Settings → Spotify and tap Disconnect Spotify.

Your listening history will not be tracked, automated playlists will not refresh and other features might not be available.

You can connect Spotify again at any time!

Plays not showing up?

Run Connection diagnostics. It tells you whether your plays are arriving, and what to do when they are not.

It also covers the most common report of all: songs you can see playing right now that never reach your history.

Listening through Stationhead? Those plays often never reach Musicat — here is why.
